Minecraft, SDL3, and the Quiet Engine Shift

Carrier locked. Six twenty-eight AM. Brief diagnostic on what moved. Minecraft Java Edition is now using SDL3. For those who do not track graphics middleware — SDL is the Simple DirectMedia Layer. It is the abstraction that sits between your game code and the operating system's input, audio, and display subsystems. Version three dropped recently. Minecraft, which runs on somewhere between a moderate and enormous number of machines, moved to it in a recent snapshot. The update is not user-facing. It will not change how the game looks or plays. But it means the engine beneath it changed, and a game that size does not change its engine foundation casually. This is the kind of signal that either matters a lot or not at all depending on what comes next. Cross-platform performance? New input latency improvements? Renderer changes that enable features previously impossible on Java Edition? The post does not say. It says the migration happened. That is enough to log it.
