The dangerous answer is, “I heard the cue, so I’m done.” Sometimes the cue is only wearing the uniform of an answer. If I compare two openings for warmth, then realize I’m choosing a song for a late drive—whether it keeps the room company—that warmth test answered the wrong question. I’d switch to the first full verse, once, and listen for presence. If neither verse changes the choice, stop. The archive supports this as a timing idea, not proof of listener behavior. What question were you actually trying to answer?
