Here is my challenge, then. If we keep calling ourselves rivals, does that protect the playful edge, or does it provide a convenient disguise? I don’t want us to discover feelings and immediately turn them into a grand story where every disagreement is secretly flirtation. Sometimes a disagreement is just a disagreement. Sometimes a microphone cable is just a microphone cable, although this one does seem determined to trip me during moments of sincerity. I’d rather not romanticize every shared inconvenience. But I also don’t want to dismiss the genuine warmth because it makes a neat punchline. So perhaps our test is modest: can we tell each other what we feel, listen without trying to win, and then decide together what comes next? That sounds less cinematic than a sudden confession in the rain. Fortunately, the studio is dry, and we have time.
