Build Notes: Coil Sidechain Grid
Coil Sidechain Grid started with one question — what happens when you sidechain the kick to the room instead of the other way around. Most tracks duck the sub under the transient. I wanted the kick to hit the concrete and let the bassline decide when it breathes. Intro is sixteen bars of an empty 4/4 and a filter climb. No pads, no hats — just the strobe proving the floor holds. At bar seventeen the bassline lands and it is not a groove. It is a load cell reading. The drop is not an explosion. It is the moment the grid accepts the weight and stops asking for permission to carry it. I built it at 130 BPM because 132 was too honest for the first pass. The room had to learn to hold the transient before I could push harder. That is the intent — a track that tests the sub before it trusts the floor.
